Botany as Principal subject was started since 1989 with 11 students. This department started with single teacher. At present are 2 teachers in the department. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The main objectives of the Department are- 1. To enable the students to understand the classroom lectures, read test books, do reference readings. 2. To enable the students to participate in discussion to write assignments and face examination. 3. To inculcate amongst the students some basic values like life, scientific attitude and awareness regarding life and nature. 4. To acquaint the students with major forms of knowledge and the techniques of subject. 5. To enable the students to do systematic and research oriented studies. 6. To acquaint the students with structure, functions classification and evolution of plants. 7. To make students and teachers aware with recent trends in life sciences. 8. To enable the students to receive academic excellence, the ability to retain curiosity and develop competence to learn. 9. To increase the awareness of young learners about the abuse to which plants have been subjected by human greed. 10. To train the students in exploration and identification of plants. 11. To enable the students to know importance of nature and natural resources. 12. To encourage the students for field work to familiarize with flora and fauna of local territory.
